Announcing our 2012 LGBTQ Journey to Israel

A WIDER BRIDGE INVITES YOU ON
A UNIQUE JOURNEY THROUGH ISRAEL

OCTOBER 24 – NOVEMBER 3, 2012
Our second annual trip for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) Jews, partners, friends, and allies. Join us on a 10 night journey that will take us to the desert, Jerusalem, the Galilee and Tel Aviv. We'll travel from history to modernity. Come find your place in Israel's future.
We are very pleased to have Keshet and Nehirim participating once again as co-sponsors.  And thrilled to have three synagogue co-sponsors this year as well:
Beth Chayim Chadashim, Los Angeles
Congregation Kol Ami, West Hollywood
Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, San Francisco

Rainbow Generations: Building New LGBTQ Pride & Inclusion in Israel

We had a very successful and productive West Coast tour, March 5 - 18, with the leaders of the
Alliance of Israeli LGBTQ Educational Organizations
Leaders of Israel Gay Youth, Hoshen and Tehila spoke at numerous events and shared their work, seeking to build international collaboration. The tour reached public audiences, LGBT and Jewish organizations, campuses, and professionals.

Censorship and "Pinkwashing"

In Seattle, the tour also encountered some protests that led to the cancellation of two events.  Read the news here. And see our page on "pinkwashing" here.

Our first annual LGBT Trip to Israel:
Twenty Americans join us on a journey to see Israel in a new way

__ This past November, twenty LGBT Jews joined us on an historic journey through Israel, sponsored by A Wider Bridge, Keshet and Nehirim.  In addition to seeing the historic, religious and natural sites of Israel, our trip focused on connecting and engaging with multiple aspects of Israel's LGBT communities.  Read more and see more photos here.

  •   College programs: Working with Hillel and other groups, we will be bringing speakers, performers, and other resources on Israeli LGBTQ culture and society to college campuses.
  •  Travel and Exchange: We are working with partner organizations to create more ways for LGBTQ Jews and allies to experience Israel, and to learn about and engage with Israeli LGBTQ society while in Israel.
  • Advocacy and Philanthropy: We are creating opportunities for people in the U.S. to learn about and support Israeli LGBTQ organizations and efforts.
